Wet Weather Claims La Salle FloRacing Night in America Opener
Spoon River Speedway and Lincoln Speedway to Open Season on Wednesday & Thursday
LA SALLE, Ill. (May 5, 2026) — The 2026 season for FloRacing Night in America will unfortunately have to wait one more day to come to life.
Severe thunderstorms overnight, paired with lingering rain this morning and overcast conditions predicted for throughout the day, have forced officials with La Salle (Ill.) Speedway to postpone their FloRacing Night in America event, which was scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, May 5.
“We got a heavy rain yesterday evening, but the bigger problem is that rain redeveloped overnight and this morning, and there’s just not enough drying to overcome it,” said track promoter, Tony Izzo. “It’s part of the game, but it just stinks because we were really excited to get the year started. You obviously can’t control the weather though.”
Series and track officials are working on a reschedule date for later in the year.
FloRacing Night in America 2026 Illinois Speedweek now opens on Wednesday, May 6 at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) before rolling into Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway on Thursday, May 7.
Both events boast a $20,000-to-win / $1,000-to-start feature event as drivers begin their pursuit of the 2026 championship crown.

The tire rule for May 6 - 7 will be as follows:
Left Front: Any tire
Right Front: Hoosier NLMT2, NLMT3
Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT2, NLMT3
Right Rear: Hoosier NRM NLMT3, NRM NLMT4
**No 29.0 / 92.0 tires allowed on Left Rear or Front Tires at any event
Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) now hosts the tour opener on Wednesday, May 6. Grounds at the facility are closed today (Tuesday, May 5), but pit parking will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday with the grandstand gate opening at 5 p.m. The driver’s meeting Is at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing action to follow.
On Thursday, May 7 at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway the pit gate opens at 12 p.m. CT with the grandstand gate opening at 3 p.m. The driver’s meeting is at 5:30 p.m with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing action to follow.

The two-race, season-opening swing precedes the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Illinois Speedweek events at Farmer City (Ill.) Speedway and Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway, which are set for Friday and Saturday, May 8 – 9.
