FloRacing Night in America

Jonathan Davenport Wins Scott Bloomquist Memorial

Tri-State Speedway Hosts $20,000-to-win this Wednesday, Sept. 24

BULLS GAP, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2025) — The return of FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) did not disappoint on Thursday night, where Jonathan Davenport rolled to the $20,018 Scott Bloomquist Memorial Scorcher victory.

Overcoming early leader Cory Hedgecock on the 15th circuit, Davenport survived late-race challenges from Hudson O’Neal and Camaron Marlar to pick up his sixth-career miniseries win.

“I was just following Dale (McDowell) there (early in the race), kind of pacing him,” Davenport said. “Dale always runs lower than I like so I was in his dirty air a lot and I kept moving around and I found a decent line there in one and two where I could enter a little bit higher than Dale and come back under him, and that’s kind of what I did to Cory (Hedgecock).

“Vic (Hill) has really changed this track up a lot and you race it far different than you ever have. It was challenging and fun out there tonight.”

Davenport also collected an additional $1,000 from an anonymous donor for leading lap 20. The bonus was posted in memory of track promoter, Vic Hill’s 17-year-old nephew, Jacob Victor Hill, who tragically passed away earlier in the week.

“I know it’s been a tough week for the Hill family, and my heart goes out to them. I also want to say that it means a lot to win the Scott Bloomquist Memorial. He was a legend and to win a race in his memory means a lot.

Cory Hedgecock and Dale McDowell brought the field to the green flag in the 50-lap feature. Hedgecock snared the lead early and led until lap 14, when fourth-starting Jonathan Davenport jumped to the lead.

Davenport would never relinquish the lead, but his job was far from easy with eighth-starting Hudson O’Neal pulling alongside multiple times late in the race with Camaron Marlar joining the fray as well.

Ultimately though, Davenport masterfully negotiated lapped traffic to take his second miniseries win of the season by 0.565 seconds. O’Neal and Marlar were followed across the finish line by Dale McDowell and Jimmy Owens.

McDowell, who was the Sunoco Race Fuels Fast Qualifier received a $500 bonus from RW Powell Construction in memory of Scott Bloomquist.

FloRacing Night in America continues the 2025 season on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Tri-State Speedway (Haubstadt, Ind.) with a $20,000-to-win / $1,000-to-start program. It will mark the series’ first-ever visit to the famed oval.

The tire rule for the event is:
Left Front: Open
Right Front: Hoosier NLMT2, Hoosier NLMT3
Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT2, Hoosier NLMT3
Right Rear: Hoosier NLMT3, Hoosier, NLMT4
